According to a survey carried out by one of the UK’s largest employee benefits platforms, it has been confirmed that health insurance is one of the top 3 perks for employees going into 2021.
This was part of a survey of over 500 individuals working across the UK, which also highlighted life insurance and childcare support amongst the top 3.
The popularity of employee benefits has grown significantly in recent years. Beyond providing just employment, managers need to show an interest in the physical and mental wellbeing of their staff members. Employees are not seen as a means to an end, but rather vital team members. Plus, any benefits that keep staff motivated and loyal to the organisation are welcomed.
One of the startups leading the charge in business health insurance is Equipsme. The London-based startup is the brainchild of Matthew Reed and the company offers plans starting from just £7 per employee, per month. With policies backed by AXA PPP, a basic package includes monthly physio sessions, 24/7 GP access online and a nurse helpline – with the option to upgrade to optical and dental, stress support, diagnostic treatment and more.
Whilst health insurance is not a requirement or obligatory and around only 8 million people in the UK have it. Nevertheless, many employees enjoy the benefit of being able to see private consultants if they need to and get faster access to medical treatment for toothache, sore joints and more. Equipsme also allow family members and spouses to be added to policies too. Another service is medigap the supplement insurance provider that helps fill “gaps” in.
In the life insurance space, YuLife is a startup that is leading the charge with life insurance policies for employees starting at just £4.99 per month. But the real benefit comes from the YuLife app which gives you access to discounts, offers and activities to improve employee wellbeing.
As childcare support was listed as one of the top 3 benefits, this covers a range of elements including flexible work hours, the options to work from home and to care for their children if they are sick. Childcare vouchers and family fun days are sometimes added to the mix, with large organisations (especially in the US) offering creche facilities too.
Beyond these top 3 employee benefits, some of the most popular products on the market include platforms that offer discounts and vouchers to their employees. The likes of Reward Gateway, Xexec and Perkbox offer online portals starting at just a few pounds per month for each employee, giving you access to a whole range of discounts and benefits from online shopping, childcare, day trips and live shows.
