The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) received a Public Power Customer Satisfaction Award from the American Public Power Association (APPA) for outstanding service to Los Alamos County.
The award was presented at the APPA annual conference in Louisville where 20 utilities were recognized for excellence in various areas including customer service, communication, reliability, and overall satisfaction.
Philo Shelton, DPU Utilities Manager said:
“We are in the public power business to serve the people of Los Alamos County and to be recognized for our dedication to excellence in this service is incredibly gratifying. We have a great team here at DPU.”
The awards are categorized into gold, silver, and bronze levels based on customer survey responses, with DPU receiving a bronze-level award for achieving an average rating above 80% across key categories.
The APPA serves as an advocate for not-for-profit, community-owned power utilities, representing their interests before the federal government and supporting the millions of people served by public power utilities. APPA’s role includes advocacy on electricity policy, technology, training, and operations to benefit both the utilities and the communities they serve.
