8×8 has announced an expansion of its AI Studio platform, introducing a suite of new capabilities designed to streamline global customer interactions and simplify the deployment of AI agents.
The update is headlined by the launch of live simultaneous voice translation, alongside multi-LLM selection and expanded enterprise app integrations.
The new live translation feature, currently in early availability, allows agents and customers to communicate in their native languages across 13 supported languages. The system functions by playing a softened version of the customer’s original voice beneath a real-time, AI-generated translation. This approach is intended to eliminate the need for third-party interpreters or manual channel switching, ensuring the conversation remains fluid.
By integrating translation directly into the 8×8 AI Studio voice agent experience, the platform automatically detects language mismatches. Both the original speech and the translated text are captured within the call record, providing supervisors with full visibility for quality assurance purposes.
Multi-Model Flexibility and Integration
Beyond translation, 8×8 has introduced a multi-LLM approach, allowing organizations to select specific models—including Claude, Gemini, Grok, and ChatGPT—for individual AI agents. This flexibility enables businesses to choose the most effective model for a specific task or channel without changing their underlying platform.
To further accelerate deployment, 8×8 has added one-click connectors to more than fifteen enterprise applications. Out-of-the-box integrations are now available for platforms such as HubSpot, Slack, Stripe, Atlassian, and Intercom, allowing AI agents to trigger actions within these systems without the need for extensive custom coding.
Simplifying AI Migration and Development
The update also addresses the transition from legacy systems. A new IVR conversion tool allows businesses to migrate existing 8×8 auto-attendants into AI Studio call flows automatically. Additionally, the platform now supports voice-driven agent building, where developers can use push-to-talk dictation to draft and edit agent logic, which the system then transcribes and cleans of filler words.
Emil Ivov, VP of Product for Video Platform and Services at 8×8, Inc., said:
“I’ve spent much of my life living abroad, and I know from experience how isolating a language barrier can be. As an international student in France, even simple tasks like contacting a service provider or calling customer support could feel overwhelming. Those challenges still affect millions of people every day. With real-time translation in 8×8 AI Studio, we’re helping organizations communicate with customers in their preferred language, making support more accessible, more natural, and more human.”
Breaking the Language and Vendor Lock-in Barriers
By offering real-time voice translation, 8×8 is allowing mid-market firms to compete with larger enterprises that previously relied on expensive, multilingual BPO hubs.
Furthermore, the inclusion of multi-LLM selection reflects a growing industry trend toward AI orchestration. Rather than tethering customers to a single AI provider, 8×8 is positioning itself as a neutral layer that allows brands to swap models as the LLM landscape evolves, ensuring that CX stacks remain future-proof against rapid changes in AI performance and pricing.
