Verizon has expanded its strategic relationship with Google Cloud, announcing a new agreement to deploy Google’s full-stack AI capabilities—including Gemini Enterprise and advanced data infrastructure—across its customer experience (CX) touchpoints and enterprise operations.
The partnership aims to modernize Verizon’s customer care architecture, unify enterprise data, and support broader AI implementation across its core business functions.
Central to the initiative is the evolution of Verizon’s contact center infrastructure. By deploying Gemini Enterprise for Customer Experience, Verizon is leveraging conversational and multimodal AI to handle a high volume of routine inbound consumer calls and chats. According to the company, automating these first-line digital interactions allows customer service representatives to concentrate on higher-touch, complex customer issues.
Commenting on the deployment, Alfonso Villanueva, Verizon chief transformation officer, and EVP of Verizon Consumer, said:
“Verizon is on a journey to become the most trusted carrier for our customers’ connected lives. Serving each and every one of our customers by name requires working AI-first at every level. Our partnership leverages Google Cloud’s AI and data capabilities across our organization to better enable our employees and keep our customers at the center of everything we do.”
Beyond front-line customer service, the telecommunications provider is integrating Google’s technology into its broader operational ecosystem. Verizon is using Google Cloud as a data platform partner to build an autonomous network intelligence framework designed to predict and remediate network anomalies before they impact end users. Additionally, the company is utilizing Google Cloud’s data and AI solutions to automate marketing campaign orchestration and strengthen cloud security governance.
The AI expansion builds on a multi-year effort by Verizon to consolidate legacy data lakes into Google’s Agentic Data Cloud. By establishing a unified data foundation, Verizon aims to break down operational silos and support the deployment of contextual AI agents capable of executing automated workflows across business units.
Karthik Narain, chief product and business officer at Google Cloud, highlighted the scope of the integration:
“Verizon is pioneering what a true, full-scale AI transformation looks like for a global enterprise. By integrating Google Cloud’s full AI stack into its business—from high-performance infrastructure and Gemini models to custom business agents—they are reshaping the future of telecommunications and building an autonomous network for millions of customers.”
The agreement underscores a shift in the enterprise CX landscape, moving away from isolated point solutions toward deeply integrated, full-stack AI architectures. By unifying front-office contact center automation with back-office operational data and predictive network analytics, Verizon is demonstrating how modern enterprise CX is increasingly dependent on cross-functional data availability rather than traditional CCaaS siloes alone.
For the broader market, the deployment sets a benchmark for the adoption of agentic AI—where AI moves beyond basic conversational deflection to autonomously executing complex tasks and anticipating customer needs before contact is ever initiated.
