Clearwave Unveils Unified Agentic AI Workforce to Automate Patient Journeys

Healthcare technology provider Clearwave has launched its new AI Patient Engagement Platform, introducing an agentic AI workforce designed to handle heavy administrative workloads across the end-to-end patient lifecycle.

Backed by a multi-million-dollar product development investment, the platform replaces fragmented point solutions with eight specialized AI agents. Rather than acting strictly as co-pilots for front-office teams, the platform aims to fully automate multi-step tasks—spanning inbound call handling and appointment scheduling to eligibility checks and payment processing—by integrating directly into existing Practice Management (PM) systems and Electronic Health Records (EHRs).

A Coordinated Ecosystem of AI Agents

Clearwave’s platform deploys eight targeted agents, each built to address specific operational friction points within healthcare contact centers and front desks:

  • Voice Agent: Manages inbound calls autonomously, booking, confirming, canceling, and rescheduling appointments without agent intervention.
  • Scheduling Agent: Fills provider schedules across phone, web, Google Business profiles, and call centers using automated schedule optimization and waitlist management.
  • Eligibility Agent: Automates insurance verification by performing real-time coverage checks across more than 900 payers.
  • Clinical Intake & Pre-Registration Agents: Secure clinical data, patient demographics, and necessary consents prior to scheduled appointments.
  • Check-In Agent: Streamlines the patient check-in process, aiming for completion times under two minutes.
  • Payments Agent: Facilitates the collection of co-pays, outstanding balances, and surcharge fees.
  • Outreach Agent: Automates proactive patient messaging to maintain schedule density and lower drop-out rates.

Reported Operational Performance and Scale

According to metrics released alongside the launch, healthcare practices using the platform achieved a 63 percent increase in call resolution speeds compared to the four-minute average handle time typical of human call center agents.

Clearwave reports that organizations adopting the platform experienced a 33 percent drop in call center operational costs, an 89 percent reduction in overall staff workloads, a 50 percent decrease in patient no-show rates, and an 86 percent drop in staff onboarding and training times.

The technology is already operating at significant scale. Clearwave states its Voice Agent currently handles over 50,000 inbound calls monthly with an average handle time of 90 seconds, while its combined Check-In and Pre-Registration functionality processes approximately 150 million patient visits annually.

Commenting on the launch, Mike Coffey, Chief Executive Officer at Clearwave, said:
