Salesforce to Acquire Cimulate to Bolster Agentforce Commerce and Intent-Driven Search

Salesforce has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Cimulate, an emerging specialist in AI-powered product discovery and agentic commerce.

The acquisition is set to strengthen Salesforce’s investment in Agentforce Commerce, accelerating the development of advanced search and discovery tools. The integration aims to help retailers move beyond traditional search models to deliver more personalized, contextual, and conversational shopping experiences.

As the retail landscape shifts, customer expectations are evolving from basic keyword-based searches toward intent-driven discovery. By folding Cimulate into the Agentforce Commerce ecosystem, Salesforce plans to enhance how shoppers interact with brands in real time—helping them find and evaluate products more efficiently while allowing merchants to focus on high-level brand strategy.

The Power of Intent-Aware Context

Cimulate has built its reputation on an intent-aware context engine specifically designed for the retail sector. The platform utilizes a combination of real-world and simulated shopper journey data to gain a deeper understanding of consumer intent. This results in more relevant search results and highly personalized discovery paths across the entire commerce journey.

Once the technology is fully integrated into Agentforce Commerce, Salesforce suggests that retailers will be able to offer search experiences that feel more natural, mimicking the way shoppers actually browse and purchase in a physical environment.

Commenting on the announcement, Nitin Mangtani, SVP & GM, Commerce and Retail, Salesforce, said:

“The future of commerce is agentic, moving beyond simple transactions to intuitive, conversational discovery. By integrating Cimulate’s technology into Agentforce Commerce, we’re helping retailers close the gap between shopper intent and action, delivering experiences that feel more natural, relevant, and effective.”

Scaling Agentic Commerce

The deal also brings Cimulate’s specialized team into the Salesforce fold, adding significant expertise in contextual search and e-commerce innovation. For Cimulate, the acquisition represents an opportunity to bring its “intent-aware” technology to a global stage via Salesforce’s massive retail footprint.

John Andrews, CEO and Co-Founder of Cimulate, added:

“Joining Salesforce allows us to scale our technology and put it in the hands of the world’s leading retailers. Together, we can help brands move beyond legacy search to experiences that truly understand what shoppers are looking for and respond in real time.”

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2027, subject to customary closing conditions. This move marks another step in Salesforce’s broader strategy to lead the “agentic” era of CRM and commerce, where AI agents handle increasingly complex customer interactions autonomously.
