Thomas Saueressig, Chief Customer Officer, SAP
SAP SE has appointed Thomas Saueressig as Chief Customer Officer to lead its new Customer Value Group. Launching April 1, the unified Board area aims to streamline the company’s CX and delivery models.
The restructuring merges the existing Customer Success and Customer Services & Delivery organizations into a single entity. The goal is to eliminate silos and provide a seamless, end-to-end journey for clients—from the initial sales engagement through to long-term value realization and cloud adoption.
A Unified Vision for the AI Era
As Chief Customer Officer, Saueressig will oversee the entire customer lifecycle. His expanded remit includes aligning sales, delivery, services, and support to drive the adoption and renewal of SAP’s cloud and AI-powered solutions.
To support this transition, SAP Extended Board members Jan Gilg and Manos Raptopoulos will report directly to Saueressig, continuing their roles as co-leaders of the Customer Success organization within the new structure.
Christian Klein, CEO of SAP SE, Said:
“In a business where adoption and renewal define success, the lines between selling and delivering disappear. Bringing Customer Success and Customer Services & Delivery together is the right move now for our customers and for SAP, as we go all in on AI. Thomas combines deep product expertise with strong experience in services and customer delivery, and he has earned the trust of our customers and teams. I am convinced that under his leadership, this new organization will drive lasting customer value across the full journey.”
Who is Thomas Saueressig?
Saueressig is a veteran of the enterprise software giant, having joined SAP in 2004. He was appointed to the Executive Board in 2019 and most recently led the Customer Services & Delivery Board area. In that role, he held global responsibility for professional services, innovation services, and SAP’s cloud infrastructure.
His background bridges the gap between technical product development and customer-facing operations. He previously served as the head of SAP Product Engineering and acted as the company’s Chief Information Officer (CIO), where he led SAP’s internal “cloud-first” transformation. Saueressig holds a degree in Business Information Technology and a joint Executive MBA from ESSEC Business School and Mannheim Business School.
