Sierra, the conversational AI platform co-founded by Bret Taylor and Clay Bavor, has announced the acquisition of Fragment, a French startup specializing in AI-driven workflow automation.
The move marks Sierra’s third acquisition in recent months, following the late-March purchases of Japan-based Opera Tech and voice agent specialist Receptive AI. As part of the deal, Fragment co-founders Olivier Moindrot and Guillaume Genthial will join the Sierra team to bolster the company’s engineering efforts.
In a blog post detailing the move, Taylor and Bavor emphasized the importance of the European market in the current AI landscape:
“European businesses are proving to be some of the earliest adopters of applied AI. So Bret and I are excited to announce the acquisition of Paris-based Fragment, which helps businesses scale their operations using AI, freeing up employees to focus on higher value work.”
Sierra has seen rapid growth since Taylor, the former co-CEO of Salesforce and current chairman of OpenAI, launched the venture with Bavor, a former Google executive. The company recently reached a $10 billion valuation after raising more than $630 million from investors including Sequoia and Benchmark. Its current customer roster includes brands such as Casper, Clear, and Brex.
Regarding the addition of the Fragment team, Taylor and Bavor said:
“Fragment’s cofounders Olivier Moindrot and Guillaume Genthial are passionate about building better, more human customer experiences with AI — bringing valuable strength to our agent development efforts in France. We couldn’t be more excited to have them on the team.”
